RABBIT ( KING KAKA) BIOGRAPHY

                                                                                                                                                                                               Rabbit King Kaka is a Kenyan artiste specializing in the genre Hiphop music. He was born Kennedy Ombima on 7th May 1987, as the last of three boys to Mr. and Mrs Ombima. The then young boy attended St. Johns Primary School and later on graduated to Eastleigh High School, where he was selected as the senior entertainment prefect. During his tenure as the entertainment captain, Rabbit initiated major talent competitions and initiatives, amongst students at Eastleigh High School as well as other neighboring secondary schools.

Image result for rabbit kaka sunguraAfter completing high school in 2005, Rabbit's passion towards music caught the attention of the then high profile music producer DJ Loop who later signed him to his recording company Sneed Music, for a two year contract. It is during this period that Rabbit's artistry developed, working alongside established acts at the time such as Afro-R&B singers Harry Kimani and Anto Neo soul, as well as fellow rappers like Abbas and Chiwawa among others. In 2008 Rabbit recorded and released his debut album; 'Tales of Kaka Sungura' which featured hit singles like 'Niko kwa jam Nakam' and 'Dodoma' ft Harry Kimani. The latter track received an overwhelming positive response from across the continent, despite having been written and performed in Swahili. After the success of his debut effort, Rabbit has maintained his focus towards music and has gone ahead to release two more albums and over '100' songs in form of mix tapes and collaborations. This focus has catapulted him to be one of the most sought after artistes within the wider East African region.
Style of Music Rabbit's style of music has been greatly influenced by the sounds of poetry over a rhythmic beat, which emerged from the inner cities and American projects. However, his impeccable craftsmanship has seen him blending this American style of music to the African folk sound, laced by lyrics that reflect the everyday struggles and triumphs of an urban youth. An accomplished storyteller and spoken word poet, Rabbit uses these two ingredients in his music to present social commentary, while sprinkling wordplays, similes and metaphors in between his hard hitting punch lines, to create an unforgettable entertainment value. Philanthropy, Projects and Entrepreneurship Besides music, Rabbit is a video director and an executive producer. He is also an actor and has been featured on various local TV shows such as Machachari, Higher Learning, Mali, and the comical sitcom Comedy Show on NTV. On 18th April 2011, a reality TV talk show dubbed 'Matatu' was launched on Kiss TV and Rabbit was commissioned to represent the views that would be presented on the show's different episodes, in form of Rap music. In 2010, Rabbit launched an initiative dubbed the Dreams Campaign an organization that focuses on the fight against social vices like child molestation, and gender violence. Under this initiative, Rabbit together with the former national soccer captain, Musa Otieno launched a football clinic to inspire kids at various children's home around the city. Later on in 2013 he launched yet another initiative titled 'Tubonge' which aims at giving the youth a platform to air their views. The initiative it has recognized by UNDOC and as a result Rabbit has been named he was named 'The UNDOC Youth Initiative East Africa Ambassador'
Rabbit is also an astute businessman and has founded a number of successful business ventures, which include, the clothing line Kaka Klothing, graphic design company Taurus Media, and a talent management company Kaka Empire.
Fan base Rabbit's audience has grown tremendously since his debut in the music scene; he currently enjoys a huge fan base via both the traditional and new age social media. Currently, Rabbit-an active social media user, has 110,000 fans on Facebook fan page, 63,000 followers on twitter and 8,000 on Instagram. He has a total viewership of more than 2,000,000 hits on YouTube.
In the month of July 2013, Rabbit's song Ligi Soo remix became the most searched Kenyan item on the Google search engine.
Thanks to his fans, Rabbit has become a permanent feature on local newspaper tabloids, entertainment magazines, Radio and TV stations, with fans always wanting to keep up with both his music and the latest news about him. To this end he has appeared in top newspapers such as The Standard, Daily Nation, Business Daily, X News, People Daily and Taifa Leo. He has also been hosted for interviews on prime TV shows such as Daniel Ndambuki's Churchill Show, Jalang’o With The Money and Larry Madowo's #TheTrend. Rabbit's voice is a representation of the total youth demographic; with a regional listenership of audiences between the ages of thirteen to thirty five. It is this very audience that has kept Rabbit a busy man criss-crossing the country to give them unforgettable experiences through his live performances. It traces his music career from when he began. 7. The Last King Of...: (June 2012) The mix tape that contains the critically acclaimed spoken word classic ‘Swahili Shakespeare’ 8. Before The Success | Success Begins Now (Dec 20th 2013) This was the first double disc Kenyan album and features artistes from South Africa (HHP) and Tanzania (Kala Jeremaya & Joh Makini)

Rabbit’s achievements 1. In February of 2011 Rabbit teamed up with Lonely Island (USA) who have done songs with Akon, T pain, Justin Timberlake & many more to do a song called ‘Simba (Spin the Globe on Youtube)’ which breaks the Kenyan videos history by being the 1st Kenyan video to get 1, 500, 000 views in four months 2. In 2013 Rabbit started an initiative dubbed ‘Tubonge’ a platform for the youth to air their views. It was recognized by UNODC and he was named ‘The Youth Initiative East Africa Ambassador’ 3.In July 2013, Google-Kenya announced that Rabbit’s video Ligi Soo Remix as the most searched followed by the controversial marriage bill. This marks history as it was the first Kenyan song to have featured 10 artistes and runs for 11 minutes. 4.Rabbit made a special 2 episode appearance in the local Drama series ‘Higher Learning’ on NTV where he acted as a poetry slam host/dj and also his songs played part on making the soundtrack. 5. Rabbit’s performance at the Kisima Awards was dubbed the ‘performance of the year’ 6.Rabbit has a youth initiative dubbed ‘DREAMS CAMPAIGN’ that deals with the rampant cases of Child molestation, gender violence and fighting for African child’s rights. With the professional pro-baller Musa Otieno as one of the ambassadors. 7.Rabbit was endorsed on the TV show, MATATU on KISS TV, that ran every Friday from 7:30pm. It involved talking to the public about issues that affect the society. 8.Rabbit was behind the soundtrack of Naiva’s Mambo Tick! rebranding. 9. Rabbit owns a graphic design and branding company called Taurus Media. Which has worked with companies such as Swift Global, The Living Room and many more companies & individuals. 10. Rabbit is taking his brand to the next level and has a clothing line called ‘Kaka Klothing’ which has become the uniform of the streets. 11. Rabbit’s video Dodoma ft Harry Kimani was nominated as creative song/video of the year at the annual South African Music Awards and the local Hip Hop awards. The video is currently getting good airplay on Channel ‘O’, Tanzania & M-net

13. In 2014, Rabbit was among Kenya's representatives on Coke Studio Africa. He performed alongside Owuor Arunga and Marllen of Mozambique. He was also among the artistes who were featured on Divine Sorrow with Wyclef Jean. 14. Rabbit is currently a mentor on Maisha Superstars which is East Africa’s version of America’s The Voice. The programe seeks to find the best talent in East Africa and nurture it.
